Vijay,his wife Sangeetha and his parents joined a massive crowd of fans at Chepauk to show their solidarity with the Sri Lankan Tamils. Earlier, Vijay’s fans had decided to hold a protest on behalf of their matinee idol. Also, upon Vijay’s request, they had sent thousands of telegrams to the Prime Minister urging him to pressurise the Sri Lankan government to find an amicable solution to the crisis. Hunger strikes were held by Vijay’s fan club members throughout Tamil Nadu.Vijay and his family joined his fans in the hunger strike. Directors Perarasu and Selvabharathy; actors Mansoor Ali Khan, Jayam Ravi, Vikranth and Sriman were also present at the venue. It was a silent protest with no inflammatory speeches.
Vijay thanked all his fans for their support and appreciated their care for their fellow human beings. Vijay also surprised everyone by speaking a few lines in Sinhalese.
