Veteran director and Vijay’s father S A Chandrasekar inaugurated the agitation.
While speaking with the media people, Vijay said, “My fans have organized fast at 37 places across the State on Sunday. It is my effort to show my support for the ailing Tamils. I am happy and consider myself privileged to be part of the protest.”
The actor also said, “We can't go to Sri Lanka and fight for the cause. This is an attempt to show our support for them.” He hopes that there would soon be a ceasefire in the island nation.
Earlier last month also, Vijay joined a fast organized by the South Indian Film Artistes Association in the city over the same issue.
Among others, who were present at the occasion were film directors Perarasu, Selvabharathy and actor Mansoor Ali Khan.
